When choosing your laptop’s internal storage, you historically had to decide between speed and capacity. Fast SSDs – at least, the ones you could afford – were somewhat limited in storage. Old-school mechanical HDDs, although excruciatingly slow, could at least contain an ungodly amount of songs and movies.
But now, you don’t have to make that compromise. High-capacity SSDs are cheaper than ever. Take, for example, the snappily-named SanDisk SDSSDA-1T00-G26. This 2.5-inch SATA drive comes with 1TB of blazing-fast storage, with read/write speeds of up to 535MB/s and 450MB/s respectively.
Of course, fast read/write speeds aren’t the sole perk of SSDs. Because they contain no moving parts, they use far less power, giving a welcome boost to your laptop’s battery life. They’re also a lot hardier and are less prone to breaking when dropped.
Right now, Amazon UK is selling the aforementioned Sandisk drive for £97.99. This is its lowest price to date, and is a stunning 26 percent lower than the usual price. This makes it an attractive proposition to anyone looking for an upgrade to their laptop’s internal storage.
Of course, our American readers don’t have to miss out. On Amazon US, the same quality SSD drive retails for $119.99, which isn’t far from its lowest ever price of $99.99, according to the ever-reliable CamelCamelCamel.
