Apple Music subscribers can now get a discount — so long as they pay for the service annually.
A new $99 gift card gets you 12 months of Apple Music, which amounts to $8.25 per month. If you choose to pay monthly, it’s still $9.99.
It doesn’t sound like much, but it’s essentially two free months of streaming per year. It’s also a guaranteed discount; if you’re like me and snap up iTunes cards when you find a deal, what you save can be hit and miss.
Previously, Apple discounted Music for students, and those in a $14.99 per month family plan definitely benefit from having more users under one roof.
If you want to grab one of these cards, it’s a bit tricky. Apple blog 9to5Mac reports some Apple stores have them, but not all — and it’s not available online direct from Apple. You can snatch one via PayPal or on WalMart’s website, which arrive via email.
Luckily, iOS 10 is bringing a ton of improvements for Apple Music, so it’s worth another look if you were turned off by its first iteration. Of course, it may not be a good time to start your annual re-up either with fancy new iPhones coming soon.
