Haters gonna hate, hate, hate: Taylor Swift’s releasing a mobile game

Haters gonna hate, hate, hate: Taylor Swift’s releasing a mobile game

Taylor Swift has conquered many things in her career and now she’s about to take on gaming as well.

The singer has partnered with Glu Mobile, the same company that made Kim Kardashian and Katy Perry’s apps, to develop a new game.

The game will be released globally in late 2016 but that’s about as much as we know right now. Glu CEO Niccolo de Masi said: “Glu is equally committed to designing never before seen gameplay elements that utilize Taylor’s unique creativity. Accordingly, we will spend the required development time to ensure this innovation is achieved.”

Swift is known for her generosity and openness with fans so perhaps her game will draw on that as inspiration. Or maybe it will look to her Bad Blood video where Taylor and her ‘squad’ morph into Marvel-style characters.

Or maybe Swift will use the platform to play out the real-life battle she fought over justice for artists in the streaming sphere.

She iconically pulled her entire back catalogue off Spotify in 2014 citing that the streaming service was undervaluing singers and their art by paying them less than $1 per play.

She also stood up against Apple when it was launching its own streaming service for free and offering artists zero compensation for their work.

Apple eventually won over the star and landed a deal to exclusively stream her 1989 World Tour at the end of last year, but a game could offer some alternative endings, like a duel between Swift and Tim Cook in Cupertino.
