PSA: You can play Mass Effect Legendary Edition for $15 at launch on EA Play Pro

PSA: You can play Mass Effect Legendary Edition for $15 at launch on EA Play Pro

It’s almost time to dive back into the Mass Effect universe again! The game launches on 14 May and we’ve got you covered with everything you’ll need to know including how to get the game for just $15 on PC.

If you’re a console gamer, you’ll have to pay the big bucks up front: The Mass Effect: Legendary Edition will cost $60 at launch. That’s a lot of cash to shell out for a remaster but, if you ask me, it’s worth it.

You’re getting all three original Mass Effect titles and over 40 DLC (including promo DLC and original pre-order items). They’ve been graphically modernized and, in the case of the first game in the series, updated with the more player-friendly mechanics introduced in ME:2.

If you’re anything like me, you’ll want to get this game pre-loaded before it launches so you can throw your entire weekend at it.

Luckily, Mass Effect: Legendary Edition is launching on EA Play Pro. For those unfamiliar, that’s EA’s monthly subscription gaming service. For $15 a month you get every EA PC game at launch, complete with all available add-ons and DLC. It’s a pretty sweet deal in that you can play AAA games such as Biomutant and ME:LE at launch, and a plethora of older titles (including the recently released FIFA 21 game) as well.

The rub is that it’s only available on PC. And, if you’re a PC gamer who loves EA titles, chances are you already have Xbox Game Pass for PC.

Here’s where it gets silly: EA’s Play service is on Xbox Game Pass, but EA Play Pro is not. So, if you’re paying for Xbox Game Pass Ultimate you’re getting EA Play included. That means you can play most EA games, including FIFA 21. But you can’t play ME:LE and other EA titles at launch like you can with other Game Pass games.

The long and short of it is this: you can sign up for EA Play Pro and preload ME:LE to play at launch. There’s no word yet on when or if it’ll end up on Game Pass, but the most recent edition was FIFA 21 and that took about six months to hit the service.
