Former Android boss Andy Rubin is leaving Google

Today, Google executive Andy Rubin told his team that he was leaving the company as first reported by the Wall Street Journal.

Rubin joined Google when the company bought Android in 2005. In 2013, he left the Android division and went on to head the company’s robotic division.

According to the WSJ, Rubin is starting a hardware incubator for startups.

In a statement to TNW, Google CEO Larry Page said, “I want to wish Andy all the best with what’s next. With Android he created something truly remarkable—with a billion plus happy users. Thank you.”
