Reddit today shared details of a significant leadership shuffle that sees CEO Yishan Wong stepping down and co-founder Alexis Ohanian returning to the company as Executive Chairman. Ellen Pao will take over as interim CEO.
Ohanian stepped away from Reddit in 2010 to work with non-profits and write a book. He’s also been active at Y Combinator, where he recently became a partner. He rejoins Reddit on the heels of a sizable $50 million investment round.
According to Y Combinator President Sam Altman, Wong resigned due to a disagreement with Reddit’s board about a plan for a new office. Altman served as a temporary CEO for eight days before today’s announcement.
