Joseph Gordon-Levitt to play Edward Snowden in upcoming Oliver Stone film

Everybody’s favorite hipster Joseph Gordon-Levitt is officially confirmed to take on the role of NSA whistleblower Edward Snowden in a forthcoming film by Oliver Stone (previously of “Wall Street: Money Never Sleeps” and “Savages”).

The Guardian reports that filming will start in Munich in January. Stone says the screenplay was adapted from two books: “The Snowden Files: The Inside Story of the World’s Most Wanted Man” by Luke Harding and “Time of the Octopus” by Anatoly Kucherena.

This report comes a mere month after the US premiere of CITIZENFOUR, a documentary by Laura Poitras covering the NSA spying scandal.

And now, we’ll take bets on who gets to play Snowden’s girlfriend, Lindsay Mills.
