The Internet’s best music: 5 Handpicked tracks by the curators of 22Tracks

Juicy J – One Of Those Nights f/ The Weeknd

Not often do we get to hear a track of which 75 percent of the track gets done by the artist that is mentioned as a featuring artist, but if that artist happens to be The Weeknd (Abel Tesfaye) we don’t mind at all. Three 6 Mafia rapper and producer Juicy J is releasing his third solo record Stay Trippy this summer and One Of Those Nights is definitely getting you in the right mood.

Lapalux – Without You ft Kerry Leatham

UK-based beatmaker Lapalux has just served us his highly anticipated second EP Nostalchic on the Brainfeeder label. At the 22tracks HQ we’re all vibing to everything the young Brit puts out. One of the stand out tunes is the laid back Without You, loved by the 22tracks audience in Amsterdam’s Relax section. A playlist that’s been proclaimed by The Next Web founder Boris as ‘the perfect playlist to play while taking a bath’. A golden advice!

Kwabs – Spirit Fade f/ Dave Okumu

Not often do we get to hear such an eccentric voice as Kwabs’s. He gained notoriety last year with his brilliant cover of James Blake’s ‘Wilhelm Scream’ and now he returns, backed by Dave Okumu, the producer of Jessie Ware’s stunning album ‘Devotion’. Kwabs seems to be gearing up for his complete takeover of blogs around and the guys behind the Soul/R&B playlist in London already scooped up this great new track. A track that’s reminiscent of James Blake’s while Kwabs’s voice reminds of deep voices by the likes of Johnny Cash.

Justin Timberlake – Suit & Tie (Four Tet Remix)

It was both hard and exciting to imagine when it became clear that Four Tet remixed Justin Timberlake’s track Suit & Tie from his recently released album called ‘The 20/20 Experience’. Dozens of remixes have been made before Four Tet’s, but Four Tet is actually the only producer who really adds something to JT’s track, just like he does with almost all his other remixes. The combination looks a little bit strange: the always abundant Justin Timberlake and the more restrained and thoughtful Four Tet. But unlikely combinations mostly produce the biggest surprises; Four Tet’s Suit & Tie remix is incredibly pleasurable.

Mutya Keisha Siobhan – Lay Down In Swimming Pools
http://22tracks.com/#bru/pop/26505
Do you remember the Sugababes? We do. In 1998 the girl trio was formed by Siobhán Donaghy, Mutya Buena and Keisha Buchanan who all left the group over the years. Now, the three girls return together, backed by Dev Hynes, a producer and writer from the UK who has worked solo as Blood Orange and last year produced and co-wrote Solange Knowles’ EP. This year Dev Hynes will be producing Solange’s studio album and he’s in the studio with Mutya Keisha Siobhan, as the Sugagababes founders call themselves right now. With the release of this track, that of course isn’t produced by Dev, as it’s the instrumental for Kendrick Lamar’s track ‘Swimming Pools (Drank)’ of his highly acclaimed ‘Good Kid, M.A.A.D City’ album. The three singers have reworked the original and it’s good to see they’re back and still as good as they were years back.
