Petah Marian - WGSN Insight
Petah is an award-winning journalist and trend forecaster who has worked in the retail and lifestyle industries for more than a decade. Currently, she's a senior editor on WGSN Insight. Her expertise is in identifying emerging consumer shifts and translating them into the strategies that businesses need to future proof their propositions.
In her role, Petah has seen the retail world move at a supersonic pace. It’s not technology driving that speed, it’s the consumer. Today’s consumer is challenging current retail models, taxing even the most consumer-centric businesses. This session explores the six consumer drivers that are moving at the highest pace across values and demographics, as well as the key strategies and technologies that will help businesses stay ahead of this rapidly changing consumer.
Ron Faris - Nike
Ron Faris is the General Manager of Nike’s NYC Digital Studio and SNKRS app. The former CEO of Virgin Mega has spent over a decade conceptualizing how to share experiences and grow communities ephemerally on mobile phones. He was the brains behind Virgin’s “MegaLine” app that revolutionized the concept of a waiting line by letting fans compete with each other for limited edition products on their phones as they waited.
Now he heads up Nike’s first digital product, design and tech studio in downtown NYC that creates experiences for Nike’s passionate Sneakerhead community. Until recently, the hunt for exclusive kicks was often hijacked by scammers who would use bots to crawl webpages or pay other people to wait in line. To combat this, Ron’s team developed the Nike SNKRS app complete with a SNKRS Cam that prompts users to find images or photos in the wild, and then utilizes augmented reality to unlock a purchasing window.
Daniel Funis - FarFetch
Daniel Funis started off within operations in FarFetch in Brazil, and now leads the expansion of Farfetch in Latin America. Founded in 2009, FarFetch is the biggest online luxury fashion marketplace in the world, with over 2 million clients and is operating in 50 countries.
Before FarFetch, Daniel initiated the operations at Groupon, as the director of marketing, and before this, he worked at Unilever. He also worked in areas of engineering, marketing, and in sales of Fiat in Italy, France, and Argentina.
